IPL 2026 Final: Devajit Saikia, secretary of BCCI, praised Royal Challengers Bengaluru for seizing their second consecutive IPL trophy after outplaying Gujarat Titans by five wickets during the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Saikia also heaped lavish praise on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for dazzling with his brilliant performance this year. The teen sensation electrified fans while representing Rajasthan Royals, smashing the highest run tally with 776 runs at a blistering strike rate of 237.30. The 15-year-old shattered records by becoming the youngest Orange Cap winner.
Gujarat Titans star opener Sai Sudharsan previously seized the record for winning the Orange Cap at just 23 years and 231 days during IPL 2025. In contrast, Shubman Gill captured the distinction during IPL 2023 at 23 years of age.
During an interaction with ANI, Saikia remarked, "It was a wonderful season... I hope all the fans relished this IPL, and congratulations to RCB for clinching the tournament twice in a row. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stands out as a phenomenal player on the ascent, destined for a bright future. BCCI will strive tirelessly to propel him to the highest level of cricket."
He also addressed the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, scheduled for later this month, and declared, "That is the most challenging thing looming in the coming days. They (Women in Blue) have already excelled... and I trust they will replicate the outstanding performance they delivered last year by seizing the ODI title."
BJP's Anurag Thakur also hailed the Bengaluru-based franchise for conquering the summit clash against the Shubman Gill-led side on Sunday.
While addressing reporters, he expressed, "I congratulate RCB for capturing the IPL for the second consecutive time. The match unfolded in Ahmedabad, but throngs of RCB fans poured in to witness the spectacle. This marked a monumental cricket triumph... IPL stands as the biggest cricket league. This is a tremendous achievement for BCCI."

Talking about the summit clash, the Shubman Gill-led side struggled to post a below-par target of 155 runs as Washington Sundar (50* in 37 balls, with five fours) and Nishant Sandhu (20 in 18 balls, with three fours) stood as the only batters who managed to surpass 20 runs. Rasikh Dar Salam (3/27), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/29), and Josh Hazlewood (2/37) dismantled the batting lineup by seizing wickets at regular intervals.
Venkatesh Iyer (32 in 16 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes) and Virat Kohli launched the Bengaluru-based franchise with a flying start. The host team attempted to mount a comeback by forcing the Rajat Patidar-led side to falter at 132/5 at one point, but Kohli's unbeaten 75 (75* in 42 balls, with nine fours and three sixes) powered the team across the line with two overs to spare.
It marked RCB's second trophy and their fourth Indian franchise title, adding to two WPL trophies.
